99 Lesabre cold air only on driver side Sign In

Hey guys, I'm new to the site and looking for help. I just bought a 1999 Buick Lesabre and the AC only blows cold air out the drivers side. The passengers side blows hot air, even if you adjust the climate control on the passenger door all the way to cooler. Could this be a problem with the diverter door? or Low pressure in the system? Any ideas would be appreciated. I do have SOME mechanical knowledge, but little to nothing with AC. Thanks in advance.

Does this have dual zone air meaning two settings for temps wanted?

Yes, you can set the temp on the main control unit. Then the passenger can adjust their side using a warmer/cooler button on the passenger door.

Hmmm? I have to say I'm not at all familiar with what that is. It may be a diverter door right near that vent and fairly simple I hope. Famous last words. Can you get a look even if thru glovebox at what is happening to change the temp - cable to a door or electric?

If someone else here doesn't have more of a clue for you the folks at ACSource.com do a ton more AND on older GMs than I would know about that did do tricks with the temp controls.

http://acsource.net/...644d7d8eeeb77edc058a << Try them there if needed. It's a sign-up site like this one that just targets A/C and just happens to be very strong with GM cars.....

I haven't had any time to pull it apart, I'm working this weekend. I'll start on Mon and let you know how I made out. Thanks for the help so far.

Re: 99 Lesabre cold air only on driver side Sign In

My first thought on this is the diverter door motor on the passenger side temp control has gone bad. it will be a small electric motor attached to the door. the other possibility will be the switch itself. as a matter of fact I would check the switch first since it will be much easier to access altho probably not as inexpensive as the motor. As for the procedure to check the switch and/or the location of the motor; your best bet is to check with autozone to access their data base for instruction. Tom can turn you on to another ac website for further info as well.

If the air is cold on one side the system pressure is fine or all air would be warm.

This is definately a dual zone control problem.

Never did like under dash work myself...door panel work was never too bad tho. good luck with the diagnosis and repair! rick
