My 98 Chevrolet s-10 blazer (4.3l v6 ) a/c was cooling until 2 days ago. I have replaced the accumulator and evaporator core and have recharged it but is still blowing warm air. Everything seems to be working I did notice that the compressor is turning clockwise, shouldn't it be turning counter clockwise instead and could that be the problem why it's blowing warm air? Would I need to replace compressor or what could be making it turn clockwise?

As you look at it from front I think clockwise is correct and would matter. Seems like with the work you did that you didn't need to touch the belt or compressor since it was working so why is this in question now?

Evaps are frequently quite involved and actuators may not be working but first:

How did you charge up this system? It matters a lot that it was charged into a vacuum and with the specified charge by WEIGHT not just a pressures alone but I'll want those too. If significant amounts of air are in the system pressures might look ok and it won't make cool for you for squat. That is: You can't condense air.

You didn't mention replacement of oil either. Did you and how did you calculate that? Evap and a new accumulator probably account for 1/2 of the specified oil charge. If nothing was added upstream which is accumulator and evaporator then compressor can run dry and self destruct rather quickly - let's hope that's not a problem in the mix right now,

After I replaced the evaporator core and accumulator, I just recharged it with a recharge kit from the auto parts store. Didn't replace oil.

Arggh! Those are aptly named "Death Kits" but let's get out of this if we can.

Anytime air is in the system - just a low charge can allow compressor to draw in air thru a low side leak so it's presumed way before plain old known wide open which you did.

Air won't condense as said. The Refrigerant (gas) must be able to condense to a liquid to evaporate later or nothing happens. Worse air doesn't carry the trace of oil left and a compressor requires constant oiling or burns right out. Let's just hope not because in this vehicle it also trashes the rest of what you just did!

The kit charge things usually have some oil and sealer which is the real corker! The oil is non specific for what you are working on and some sealers react to moisture which is in the air now in the system and clot solid destroying the whole system! refresh - DEATH KITS! Not funny but they don't boast that on the kits!

I really think you can get out of this if you want to follow exacting details from me and provide any pertinent info as to what oil and junk might have been in the kit/can stuff.

You'll need to rent gauges and a vacuum pump from a place like AutoZone and I'll do the math for you as to how to add what and how much. It has a chance if you only tried the once with a kit.

BEST BET FOR NOW IS TO DISCONNECT COMPRESSOR RIGHT AT IT SO IT CAN'T POSSIBLY ENGAGE!!!! Tie the plug out of harm's way. System doesn't have a clue what's in it but will know there's pressure and try to come on - can't allow that with the info I have here now,
