96 Bonneville SE No Heat Sign In

Hi, I have a 1996 Bonneville SE with no heat. Here is everything that has been tried so far to no avail: New heater core, new thermostat, new water pump, new radiator, system flushed several times, still NO HEAT. Blower works fine. Any other suggestions? Also there is no A/C. Thanks for any help.

Heater hoses hot when the engine is warmed up?

Re: 96 Bonneville SE No Heat Sign In

With the engine at full operating temp, locate the 2 heater hoses where they go into the firewall and feel them to see if they are both hot to the touch. If not too hot to hold, then you have to look at the actual engine temp and if that is up.

If you find that they are both too hot to hold, then the heat in that vehicle is controlled by a blend door that regulates heated air flow. it is operated by an electric motor/actuator. The problem can be that the actuator is stripped or inoperative or the door itself could be damaged. This is what needs to be determined by examining the actuator and see if it is responding to heat change commands or not.
If they are both not too hot to hold on to, then you either have a restricted heater core or the system is not completely full and getting air pockets for some reason.

Does the blend door also affect the A/C?

The blend door effects temperature, regardless of A/C or heat request.

Where is the blend door located? Behind the glove box perhaps?

Re: 96 Bonneville SE No Heat Sign In

The door itself is internal to the HVAC housing and not accessible. The actuator motor is mounted on top of the HVAC housing but that not real easy to access either.

Re: 96 Bonneville SE No Heat Sign In

I really have a feeling that the actuator is my problem. I will look more into this and see how tough of a fix its going to be. Thanks for the help.

As HT stated there is an actuator mounted to the case. Move the temp knob and see if the actuator is moving.

Yeah that actuator looks like a pain to get to, think it would be easiest to just remove the dash to get to to it, or feel around up in there blind with little room?

Re: 96 Bonneville SE No Heat Sign In

The instructions state that dash removal is required but you may be able to at least see it through the glove box to determine if that is your problem or not.
