95 Toyota Tercel bolts broken off from compressor Sign In

I have a 95 Toyota Tercel, over 150 k miles, 4 cylinder, automatic. I've always had A/C problems with this car. The compressor and power steering share a belt. If I use a belt to include both of them, the belt makes squealing noises and eventually breaks. A local mechanic told me it is because there are 5 bolts that are supposed to hold the compressor on, but two of the bolts have broken off and he could not get them out. So I'm assuming the lack of bolts is causing the compressor to be unsecured, which is causing the belt to slip and eventually break? I've taken this car to several mechanics about this problem, but no one seems to have much experience with Toyota Tercels. Any advice?

Any belt driven item needs the full intended mounting support. If bolts broke off they'll have to be extracted and replaced. That can be a nighmare of a job depending on just where they are located and how broken off,
