I bought a 2012 Chevy Cruze and AC didn’t work. It blows on all levels and turns on and off but doesn’t get cold at all. I thought putting refrigerant would fix it but when I put the gauge on, the pressure was all the way up. And the compressor runs and everything but not sure if I can rule that out. Was wondering if anybody could help with some advice on what it might be? Thanks.

AC diagnosis is definitely not a DIY type job. There are a million factors to consider. Everything starts with a complete evacuate and recharge with the exact "weighed" amount of charge. You can't simply add to a system without knowing exactly how much is in there and how much more it needs. There is no way to know that without removing it all, vacuuming the system down and starting from scratch.

There are dozens of causes why your compressor is not coming in. Our experience with the Chevy Cruze are, mostly, a faulty thermal probe. They are also prone to leak through the discharge hose (oily appearance around it). A faulty compressor clutch coil and a faulty compressor thrust bearing are also suspect. If your system is fully charged, the problem is one of the aforementioned. My advise is to have it checked by a specialist. Check the reputation of the selected shop in Google first.
