Went to test drive the Enclave and takes 10 minutes for the AC to cool down the car; it's large inside, 85° outside, bright sun, south Texas. Do I buy the Enclave or move to a Tahoe for a colder AC?

Obviously it is going to take time for an ac system to cool down a large cabin that is sitting outside in the sun in Texas .

If you interested in a vehicle you should have your mechanic check the vehicle over completely, including the ac system's performance, before buying.

Could be totally normal depending as DS said. What color is this thing? That can matter big time or any if it was a crystal clear day with hours of full sun on it the air temp might be just 85F but the vehicle could be 110F ? Metal and all.

Texas - that's nothing. Try Phoenix with no shade. Lived for a school year in Denver and the mile high sun (no A/C in that car) was so intense if you didn't leave a towel over steering wheel you couldn't drive it without welding gloves!

I did A/C stuff and certified in it. I don't drive everyone else's vehicles but family has owned now 5 Suburbans and one Tahoe. This is MA and get just as hot here as almost anywhere, just doesn't last long, like hours only of a day. Been in some when first out and did take quite a while to cool those monsters.

If this is at a dealer try another one and compare it if you can catch the same conditions.

If dual A/C use front only at first if no rear passengers. Dual is just splitting the BTUs available not twice as strong. May be normal as said. It's big.

If you love the thing tinted glass and a move in some places is a light color dash pad - removable. If you've lived there you should know some tricks to help.

Off your exact topic but 85F isn't even hot yet!
