When i first turn the ac on the light will not come on to recirculate the air automatically. Ater pushing it mannually the fan increases the flow but it doesnt automatically turns back off. What is causing this not to be done automatically? I replaced the automatic temperature control and after doing this the recirculation control is not working properly. Can anyone please give me an idea of what could be happening.
thanks

There are a few different types of so called "automatic" heat/A/C controls so can't be too specific. If you have requested the maximum cooling all I know of default to recirculating the air inside cabin and this would light an led bulb to say such. Fan speed would sound and really be more volume/flow if only because the path of airflow is shorter than outdoor air.

Many vehicles but especially large cabin ones take a long time all temps depending to cool the cabin such that it would automatically lower fan speed. Could be normal in the particular situation. That LED bulb could be on the fritz but still the request working?

Have to ask if you are totally familiar of what to expect from this exact system?

could you please explain the system a little more to me. Once i turn the ac on the light does not automatically comes on and adjust the fan speed nor does it turn the fan speed down once the climate is met. Thanks for your eplanation of this system.

Thanks

Re: 2004 chevrolet suburban automatic heat/air control Sign In

I'll try but know how many set ups these vehicles could have. NO A/C, Manual front only, dual zone and front/rear controls. Egad! I can't be sure this "climate" control is meant to adjust fan speed or just the vent temps? THE OWNER'S MANUAL FOR THIS EXACT SUBURBAN should and will be your best source of how the items are supposed to work given which options it has.

Said earlier post that it can take forever for the vehicle to sense the air inside is at the requested temp. Frequently it's picking up air from dash or high, sensing temp to make adjustments, then exit the air lower.

If anything close to that think how hot the dash gets if it was just sitting in the sun in a very short time depending even on color of car and interior.

Know that passenger vehicle A/C is still changing air inside cabin on any setting including OFF! You'd suffocate if not. So "recirc" is more effective at least the idea of cooling air already cooled some vs ambient outdoor air.

Note: Done with this and even so I don't personally ride around in other people's vehicle's long enough in assorted conditions to know what to expect from each. I do think the LED light saying "recirc" should if a button stay on. Same dash as the Suburbans but a truck I own (1997) lights when pushed OR when max cool is requested no regard to where the button is on those. That doesn't help much as the dash is totally different.

One thing you could test is checking output temps with a real good and fast thermometer, center vents most accurate. If that is putting out expected air temps (generally 40s > low 50sF) once run a while with fan blowing away it's plain doing it's best and hasn't caught up yet for the general interior air.

In short - have you owned or driven this vehicle enough to know this is not normal or a fault?

Recirculation is a manual control. It's not programmed to go into recirc mode automatically.

PS, I moved this to the AC section where it should have been in the first place.
