My air-conditioning was working real well earlier in the summer. However, lately it just blows out semi-cold air. I found out that there is no fan or thermal fan clutch which is usually located in front of the water pump. When I called the Chrysler dealership to order the metal fan, they said the only fan listed was the electric fan. However, I already have that fan and it is working well. I checked the free-on and it was fine and the pressure was fine. The A/C can only cool to 68 degrees.

So how do I make the A/C go below 68 degrees? Do I just need to find a fan in a junk yard or is there something else messed up that I don't know of?
Thanks.

Pardon MY ignorance but what is this vehicle? Is that Jeep Grand Cherokee? Most poor cooling is caused by a low refrigerant charge. The single low side gauges are only useful when system is operating properly but low (perhaps) and the now common ones with a gauge and trigger usually have oils and sealers that are a disaster to a system that is not going to be trashed if the attempt doesn't work.

The only way to know how much refrigerant (Freon is a brand name) is in a system is to recover what is in there and fill to factory specs. Everything else is guessing.

A common leak with Chrystler products is the evaporator. This can be a $2,000 problem in some vehicles so best not to make anything worse right now.

You mentioned the metal fan? Fan on water pump isn't used in almost all FWD vehicles and now many that are RWD and some will use both electric and mechanical fans for radiator and condenser. Either way they must be working when A/C is requested or that alone can be the problem,

T
