1999 Honda Civic AC compressor? issue Sign In

I recently replaced my compressor/drier/evaporator in my 1999 Honda Civic (1.3L). I went to go charge the system and the refrigerant isn't flowing into the system. I turned the AC on in the car on HIGH and the belt is driving the compressor, but the fan behind the condenser isn't coming on.

I do not know if the compressor is actually ON.

How can I force the compressor on to verify it isn't messed up and what steps can I do to debug the problem.

Thanks for any advice.

Civics have some strange quirks sometimes.

Is compressor really on or not? If outer hub is spinning at belt speed it's engaged. That would create a vacuum to draw in refrigerant after the pre-charge following a well held vacuum. If fan behind condenser isn't on the compressor is probably not engaged.

It won't engage at super low pressure. You have to pre-charge to work pressure up.

Before we try to disect this as an electrical problem please tell us how you began trying to put refrigerant in after the work. If no vaccum was held there's no point untill that's done as air in the system from being opened up will stop the whole show quickly,
