I took my truck to the shop because it wasn't cooling sometimes. It seemed to blow just fine though. When it stopped cooling I could turn it off for a few seconds and then back on and most of the time it would blow cold air again.

The shop did a recharge and said that it was a pound low.

The next week it seemed fine with even colder air. Now the original problem is happening again. Sometimes its cooling, sometimes its not but still seems to be blowing fine.

Any ideas/suggestions before I take it back to the shop? Thanks in advance.

Did they dye the system? Probably taking it back and having them recheck the charge amount would be a good idea. It could be an electrical problem, but verify the charge amount first.

It will hopefully make it easier to find any leaks.

If a Delphi compressor, they are famous for body leaks. The original behavior was probably icing up at evaporator from low charge evaporating at wrong place such that it wouldn't cool, cycles off, melt and work again.

Know that low charge doesn't carry the oil well or worse will click on now and then and destroy compressor then throw junk into system. If it does that I suggest disable the compressor if so to avoid it being more of a project to fix,
