1998 Buick Century Custom
3.1L V6
112,500 miles

My heat/air system does not blow air anymore. From the limited info I've gained from the internet, it's my blower motor.

It began to squeal at one point. It would squeal at low fan speeds, and stop squealing at higher speeds. Then one day, it stopped blowing altogether.

Does anyone have any advice on how to check/replace the blower motor on this particular vehicle? And is this a project I should try tackling on my own? I'm fairly technically skilled, but I don't have things like a lift if I need to get underneath the car.

Oh, and I think I have some sort of gasket that leaks near my blower motor. When it rains hard, water leaks on to the passenger side floor boards.

Thanks for any help.

The leak may be why your blower motor quit running. You should pull the blower motor out and check for water intrusion. If you see rust around the blower shaft, you'll know. Must sure the cowl panel isn't full of leaves and blocking off drain ports.

My guess would be that the drain is plugged up in the cowl air intake and that will dump water into the blower motor and ruin it. You will have to remove the cowl cover to access the drain in the bottom.
