My AC works great until I accelerate and then the AC outlets on the dash turn off and send the air to the defroster outlets. When I ease up on the gas I can hear what sounds like a door closing under the dash on the passenger side of the cab and the air then goes out the dash outlets as it should. What is the problem? I suspect a vacume leak, but where to look?

There is a vacuum leak somewhere in the A/C system. Look under the hood and find the vacuum canister and follow the vacuum lines inside the truck. It may be a line leaking, a connection loose, the control head leaking or a door actuator leaking. have fun.

Could also be a bad vacuum check valve if you lose it during acceleration. Should be able to suck through it one way and not the other. If you do end up replacing one, make sure you install it the right way.
