Has this been through a full resto or original?

Those controls are a combination of vacuum and electronic. There is a programmer that operates the vacuum controls. Verify the vacuum supplies to the programmer first. See if anny of the vacuum servos are jammed or broken.

THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ANY VACUUM LEAKS AND NOTHING SEEMS TO BE BROKE OFF! DO YOU THINK IT COULD BE ELECTRICAL OR A BAD PROGRAMMER UNIT?

Sure it could but it needs to be diagnosed correctly. You'll need to take it to a professional.

You are the smartest man I have seen post in this section in a long time and I applaud you for that post. Its a sweet car you have and definately in the right hands. Many people try to screw with a system them don't understand to save a buck and it costs them big time, as you can see if you read other posts in this sections. Congrats to those who know your limits and please post back to this thread what the fix was.

Gotta agree with Nick on this. 1972 was a last great year for the Cadillacs. Owned two 1973 (Devilles), 5mph bumper law went into effect AND the dang monster 472 (called them 501s?) were lame and pigs compared to 68-72, 472s. Sweet original Eldo convertible likethis - don't mess it up!
