05 Dodge Stratus Coupe, 2.4L,SOHC,AT + runs hot ar stop or idle

My daughter's car. 112000 & runs great. Unfortunately it had head gasket issue with prior owner (we were unaware), and it was "STOP LEAKED", held good for about 1 year then let go. The car runs strong.....no oil burning, no operation issues. We decided on a professional repair job; head gasket, head serviced w/o valve job, new timing belt, new water pump, new thermostat, new radiator & cap. AC throws snow balls, excellent for humid New England climate. Still runs great (as it should considering!). Although the car DOES NOT OVERHEAT, temp gauge goes to HOT (with coolant light on) at idle, or stop and go....once engine reaches operating temperature. I inspect engine while still running to find: fans operating, top coolant hose hot, coolant level in reservoir OK. Of course, once the vehicle starts moving, temperature move back to normal. My hunches: accessory belt (alt & water pump) could be loose but does not seem so....OR..... air in coolant. I once owned a Chevy that had a coolant "bleeder" between the radiator and the water pump, which worked great and actually solved this problem. Any suggestions? I am a somewhat talented backyard mechanic and I am trying to hold back on what was once a reasonable and advisable repair. So if I can do something myself, I would greatly appreciate the guidance. LOU

Yes, the possibility of air in the system has to be eliminated. We use a vacuum fill to assure that. The next thing you need to do is to access the computer data with a scan tool to see what temp the computer is seeing and whether it drops when the fan comes on. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

When it is showing hot on the gauge and the engine fan(s) are running, is the air blowing from the fans hot? Does turning the heater on cause the temp to go down. Does the heater blow hot? Since we volunteer our time and knowledge, we ask for you to please follow up when a problem is resolved.

Needed a good bleeding. Could not find a bleeder valve & had to do it with a funnel in radiator opening. Lots of air for a little radiator. Thanks as always

Ok, I'll close this now as solved. Ask any Mod if you need it opened again.
