Basically when you are putting gas into your tank the displaced air has to go somewhere, so there is internal vents for this. If a hose or valve gets blocked then it gets hard to put gas in. Maybe get the codes pulled to see if there is any evap codes to give you a little help. Get under the car a look at the hoses to make sure nothing is pinched....
