wet floor driver side update. Sign In

MY 2004 ford ka 23000 mileage engine size 1.3. I've had the wet floor drivers' side checked by an independant garage (not dedicated to ford) and was informed that its likely to be a component behind the brake pedal which resembles 2 plates sandwiched together that have separated and allowing water to seep through into the interior. The mechanic said he remembers receiving a memo from ford a few years ago, informing him of a common problem with this type of car, i.e This particular component was separating due to the quality of the welding. This sounds to me like a manufactures' fault. therefore i think ford should pay for this work to be carried out. Afterall, consumer protection should last for 6 years after purchase. I would be grateful to hear from Anyone else who has come across this problem.

Chase that down soon as the car maker wants happy customers and the certainly do, do work on known issues after regular warranty has expired and especially if it can be a safety issue.

Check owner's manual/handbook for phone #s or a dealer for a manager who can help you with that. Thanks for the report and hope it will be taken care of for you at no charge,

T
