Hi first time user here, can someone please help me. I have a 2006 Ford Escape and when I brake my accelerator pedal just freezes my engine doesnt rev or anything I just keep tapping it then it takes off after about a minute or two it is getting dangerous. This happens once in a while summer or winter, but here lately it is happening alot. Then when it goes it takes off fast. Any suggestions, thank you.

This could be due to the accelerator cable becoming seized or frayed; causing the inner cable to jam inside the outer cable casing? If this is the case; replacing the cable is about the only thing that can be done to cure the problem. To confirm this; you would have to disconnect the cable at both ends and see if there is any binding felt as you push pull on the inner cable. There is a chance that the throttle plates them selves are jamming; due to carbon build up; which a good cleaning with air intake cleaner; usually remedies. Dan. Canadian "EH"
