2003 FORD EXPEDITION 5.4 100,000 MILES

I recently replaced the starter. Now when i turn the ignition it just clicks.

HAVE BATT TESTED . CLEAN AND TIGHTEN CONNECTIONS . ALL OK TURN STARTER BACK IN FOR TESTING POSS REPLACEMENT.

when i try and start it the battery cables get hot. What would cause this?

make sure the wire going to the starter isn't rubbed through the insulation anywhere and grounding to the frame.

If the battery cables are getting hot, that indicates high current flow so you may be looking at a bad starter.
