speedometer jumping and loss of power

have a problem with my ford focus 1.6. Its been a dream up until a couple of days ago! But on friday it started to play up.
The Speedometer wierdly jumps about on occasion and the car jumps about when accelerating. i have also noticed a substantial decrease in the power when it accelerates.
wondering what could be causing this problem and how it can be fixed?

Hard to say exactly whats going on here.
Many a possibilities..
Tune up?..spark plugs ,spark plug wires.
Injector failures?
Restricted exhaust/converter?
Timing belt issue?
Sensors problems
Computer controls
I suggest taking it in for diagnostics first and go from there.
Any check engine light coming on?
Any stored codes?
