I have a 2006 chevy colbalt and my security system goes off when I open the door even though the doors aren't locked. I changed the battery about 3 months ago and thats about when it started. Any thoughts?

If this is the factory alarm system, it may be in passive mode. In passive mode the alarm system will arm itself one minute after the key is removed from the ignition and the last door is closed. The doors don't have to be locked for the system to arm itself in passive mode.
Look in your owners manual and it should tell you how to configure your system, so it isn't in passive mode.
