i have a 2004 dodge neon with 172k miles on it. i just recently ( June 25th 2012) changed my power steering belt and 1 out of the 3 power steering belt pulleys due to a chip in the pulley and it was shredding the belt and i also replaced the motor mount. it was running perfectly fine until 3 days later ( June 28th ) when the power steering belt broke on my way home from work. when i got home i took a closer look at what could have made the belt broke and noticed that the power steering belt tensioner pulley was bad. i bought me a new power steering belt and a power steering belt tensioner pulley and took it to a professional to put the parts on. i picked my car up from the garage today and i noticed when i press the gas to accelerate, the engine is louder than what it was before i took it to the garage. what could it possibly be?

Reopened this thread Tom. His/her other was locked.
This one has a lot more information.

What kind of noise is it making that is louder? Can you describe the noise? Maybe you should take it back to your mechanic and have them take a look.

This is a tough one without actually hearing the noise for ourselves. Maybe you should call your mechanic and ask them if they could have a look at it, to be sure nothing is falling off or could pose as a safety concern.

This would have been the third one. Apparently one got deleted.
