is there a free manual on how to fix these axles on a 98 ford escort zx2 with comlete instructions on how to do the repair

Check that but take my advice and just toss the whole shaft for a rebuilt 1/2 shaft. They are as low as $75 bucks vs small savings if any to do yourself. Shop where you want - that's just an example. Remember - you have to have it out anyway even if you want to replace boots or a joint individually!

Im with Tom on this one, and im sure most veterans here will be also. like he said, the part new isnt worth the time and frustration of rebuilding the old one. Plus youll have the piece of mind that you put a new part in there that should give you the same life as the old one. where as you might be just putting a bandaid on the old one
