Have 1988 Pontiac Grand Prix in great shape. 160,000 kl. Couldnt get it to turn off last week, so drove to my mechanic and he put in a new tumbler? for the key. Since then my interior light would come on when I went over a bump so he disconnected it. Now my car wont start after turning it off, has to be jump started. The battery is new and he doesnt know what it could be. I am wondering, hmmm being a girl dont know much, but could he have disturbed the wiring when he fixed the key tumbler? It just cost me $400. for that so am worried about being taken. My car has been sitting at the mechanics for 3 days now. I know this is a very vague question without probably all the details you need but any advice would sure help. Thanks in advance.

One thing I hate to do is second quess another mechanic's diagnosis and repair . However my gut feeling is that maybe you should seek out a shop with a bit more electrical savy. At the very least get a second opinion.It may cost a bit more at first , but one wrong or unneeded repair can cost a bundle.

I agree with re-tired; this is 22 year old technology and if buddy can’t figure it out; it’s possibly time to take the car away from him/her.
But then again; like you said, it would be good to have all the details and the Tech’s side of this story.

Yes, I agree with the 2 previous answers. The reason your battery is going dead now is because he only removed the bulbs which leaves the timer module still running and he should have realized that. He needs to find the cause of the light coming on, not simply remove the bulb.
