mitsubishi magna wont start Sign In

hi,

i have a 03/90 tp mitsubishi magna i cant get started. the badge on the side says 2.6 eci multi. left this car sitting in the shed for well over a year now and there was nothing wrong with it when i put it there. at the moment though, it wont start. i have recharged the battery, and it is showing between 10-11 volts on the dash.

i plan on trying to use jumper leads and hook it up to my dads car when i get a chance, but i was wondering if there is something else i should check as well for the time being.

excuse my ignorance with mechanics, i usually prefer to leave this sort of thing to the professionals, but i just need to get the car started to try and get it out of the shed. long story, but its way easier to get it started and drive it out as opposed to pushing or dragging it. it took alot to get it in there in the position its in.

many thanks in advance and i hope you can help.
D

If that voltage reading is accurate after a real charging of battery it's probably junk now. There's also a chance that fuel is bad now. It should have had stabilizer added for extended storage. You might get lucky and use of a solvent may work. That battery needs checking with a real voltmeter not just the car's gauge. It could be real hard on the alternator after and if it will start and probably won't restart later without replacement.

If the attempt to jump reacts with last connection I suggest taking that battery out for testing or replacement right away as it could harm the donor car's charging system,

You should take it out & have it checked as Tom suggested.

Batteries need to be cycled (charged & discharged) to stay good. If the battery has been sitting for a year with out starting the car once in a while, odds are good it's bad. If it's bad replace it, don't try to jump start it....

You may want to follow the other bits of advise Tom posted as well before driving it...............
