idle problem Sign In

i drive a 2003 dodge stratus coupe with a 2.4 L. it's got 160,000 miles on it. when i idle the temp goes up to the top, and the air or heat will quit working. if i rev up to about 2500 rpms or if i start driving the temp goes back down and the the air/heat starts working again. i thought maybe in was the thermostat so i replaced it but it still it's working right. it doesn't really cause any problems but it's kind of annoying and since the engine gets too hot the paint on my hood is starting to chip. my service engine soon light is on and the diagnostic machine says my o2 sensor needs to be replaced but i didn't think that could cause this to happen. any tips would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advace

Sounds like your electric cooling fan is not working. If so, test it by jumping power and ground to it. It should run all the time with A/C turned on.
