i replaced the heads of a 93 ford escort

i replaced the heads of a 93 ford escort Sign In

after i replacing the heads and gasket the car wouldnt start would i need to fill the radiator for it to start i know it need coolant but wouldnt it at least start,may have to replace radiator so just checking that engine running

I don't think this car needs coolant just to test it to start. There would be wires going to the radiator sensing level of coolant and even then those would just trigger a light on dash but Escorts which I think was almost all Mazda in 1993 wouldn't have wasted money on those features.

What I think is the problem is the timing belt is not in position and hope that this is not the "interferance" engine that if off far enough some engines become lawn ornaments right away!!

If all is where it was it should at least run the way it did before. This is an expensive job when done by the pros as it's very involved, T
