ford ranger problems with stock air box! wont pass smog! Sign In

ok so hears my problem, i bought a 1993 ford ranger about 8 months and i renewed my tags and the last thing i need is to smog it. right now the truck runs perfect with the cold air intake it came with when i bought it but in CA they have strict laws about the cold air intakes and they wont even touch the car if it has one. so when i try to hook it up to the stock air box, it runs like sh!t. it wont even idle. ive replaced almost everything that has to do with air/fuel ration. pcv valve, cleaned MAF sensor, Cleaned throttle body, new throttle positioning sensor, new idle air control valve. i even checked for air leaks but didnt find one. so to sum it all up, truck runs flawless when its hooked up with the cold air intake and doesnt even idle when its hooked up to the stock air box. i need help fast because its my daily driver and my tas are due and dont want to drive it around like that. please anything helps.

Thee HAS to be a leak in the system between the MAF and the throttle body. That's the only thing that can be different. If the system is sealed tight, there is no difference in the systems.
