Hi, I have a 2000 Chevy Impala 3400 V6. I want to flush my cooling system, but have a question I need answered first. Is there any sure way to tell what kind of coolant is in my vehicle right now? What's in my car now is green, which is usaully regular coolant. According to the manual, it shipped with Dexcool and that is all that should be used. I bought the car used about 6 months ago and have no way of knowing what is in the car now. I've heard nasty things about Dexcool and would really rather not use it. Can I safely put regular coolant in? Thank You.

I have heard the makers of Dexcool got sued big time!! for overstating its ability. It's really just EG ethelyne glycol same as the usual green stuff. I would stick with it and there is a more expensive that is still pink out there and I'd and do spend the couple extra bucks for it.
Warning!! Don't use too much pressure to flush a system. Wicked check that you half correct amount of anti-freeze in the system. Half at least!! of the devices are WAY off!! Check the device with known concentrations. When you fill the car up from a flush put in the known 50/50 mix by volume which is listed in your owner's manual. I suggest using the best products you can find and use distilled water for the mix. Wally world about 58 cents. Good luck, T
