I have a 1997 ford ranger 4cyl 5 speed and the clutch will work and drive around town and the it is like the clutch is stuck in and will not release so you can't go any where you can change gears with clutch pedel out

Sounds like hydraulic clutch linkage failure likely. Master cylinder to line to flex line to slave cylinder to arm that disengages clutch. Any but probably either slave or master cylinder. If you see a leak - that would be a strong clue,
