my car started, hard starting 6 mos ago, then wouldn't start at all,the x's friend said fuel pump at first, then sensor, i forget which one, but it was not on the throttle body, it was in black box with fuses under hood next to battery- he changed and ran fine, only i noticed the ck eng light came on after he did this, then the other day, bam same thing, hard starting, sparatic start, dont start, then reduced eng light and reduced power, drove 3 mi, then no start then started fine and ran full full power, drove 3 mi home, then no start- reduced eng light still on.... what senser is in black box?- Should i try replacining again or was that a rig? please help! -also wondering if is electrical i have no horn was disconnected when i bought, and light comes on panel says theft system disabled or something to that degree, yet the red blinking light goes off, and alarm will go off (lights) no horn, and i had a problem with window , which wasnt relay, just goes when it wants.....ANY AND ALL OPINIONS & HELP GREATLY APPRECIATED- SINGLE MOM- 07 GRAND PRIX

this is a 2007 pontiac grand prix? which engine? This will need to be scanned for ALL codes especially with a security light being on or flashing.... Sounds like the black box under hood might be the fuse relay box... Anything more is guessing. Sorry needs a professional with a good scanner... I gotta ask - the check engine light is on 6 months, flashing security light, vehicle is not operating 100%- that starting problem why did you not consult a technician?

The reduced power light is an indication of a problem with the "Drive by wire" electronic throttle control. You still need to have the codes read as Kev advised. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

You have a highly technical engine control problem and Aamco is not the place to have that diagnosed. They have no clue how to diagnose electronic throttle problems. They are a transmission shop. PS, there are no sensors in the fuse box. He may be referring to the Mass Air Flow sensor in the air intake.

Yes i do believe he said it was the mass air flow sensor- but the showed me something in the fuse box??? is that where it it located? aamco - supposedly does full car nowadays, but i hear ya , i was married to a mechanic for 15 yrs ..was myfirst thought! if ya specialize in a tranny, how could ya... but they offer free ck enging light diagnosis, if it is something simple i can do myself or my son..or the orig guy again... Thanks so much!!!! ; )

Most any auto parts store will read codes for you for free although they will have no idea what to do when they see TAC codes. Aamco may attempt to sell you something but believe me, they have no clue about this subject. Looking for the cheapest guy can end up being the most expensive when you count the mistakes.

It could be a lot cheaper to have it diagnosed correctly instead of just throwing parts at it that it doesn't need.

You were asked to have the computer scanned and provide us codes numbers long ago and that is yet to happen so I have no opinion.

Quote back a couple ">> Sensor was 20$ didnt work : ( towed to firestone 100 diagnostic, and 2 sensors needed to get it running to continue diagnois now at 550, and there saying its the fuse bock, has short need replaced another 500!!<<" ! You've spent $550 on diagnosis and some partial repair and still don't have codes nor is it fixed?! Doesn't sound like that worked out too well so far then asked for more bucks to continue? This fuse block with a short: Fixable as it is or is it burnt somehow needed another? This seems to lack good info and help so far yet they seem to know how much more to spend????? T
