changing wheel sizes Sign In

If I upsize my 17" factory rims to 20" rims will it damage my truck in any way??? For example will it damage my axels???

Can't be sure what you'll end up with altering wheels then choose tires where you will cause troubles so easily.
Risks include: Unable to align properly and chew up tires quickly, tires may rub on sharp turns so are things to think about.


Shift of load on bearings may shorten their life?


Generally I don't approve of altering OE specifications but it may list an alternative size was available on door jam of some vehicles to help decide.


Overall handling of it could be adversely affected. Lots to think about and be sure - dimensions of all when complete or risk having to put it all back. AYOR on that,

Yes, it does add extra load and extreme wear to suspension and steering components, assuming they even clear the fender wells. It also totally destroys the ride of the vehicle.

The other problem is they are often very difficult to get balanced.
