car will crank but will not stay running Sign In

i have a 99 grand prix gtp 3.8l supercharged that will turn over and start then immediatly dies. i have already replaced fuel pump, battery, plugs and wires. fuel pump is priming and there is spark from the coils to the wires. the car had sat up for over a year and just recently had been running[drove for two days and now will not start.] any idea which way to go, oh yeah the only lite on the dash once it dies is the battery lite but power seem to be fine all lights working . thanks for your time. robd

the key will also sometimes lock down in the ignition and you can not remove it. then you will try it again and it will release it. this happens every so often but not always.

Is the security light on or flashing when you try to start it?

Then you need to take a fuel pressure reading. I would double check that security light because it sounds more like that.

I'm not going to waste a bunch of time trying to explain how to fix a bunch of "just in case", non existent problems. Find out what the real problem is.

Get a fuel pressure gauge, screw it onto the test port on the fuel rail, crank the engine and read the pressure.,
