can't figure out hardware on brakes-87 toyota celica

Started a brake job on a n 87 Toyota Celica, just replacing the pads. Easy enough....I took it apart & now I can't figure how the two paperclip-like springs fit back in there. Can anyone help out?

Take a good look which I can't but I think you just squeeze or compress the clips a bit and slide them out which may take a small screwdriver.
If they are damaged in any way replace them!! T
