Which module(s) is storing the U1000 code? They need to scan all the modules in the vehicle and see what code(s) are being stored. That might pinpoint which module is having a problem. Don't know what sensors would have to do with a U code. U codes are communication bus codes. If only a code reader; that will explain why; they can only read PCM codes. A proper scanner should be able to bring up a module status list of all modules (computers) in the vehicle. And in most cases, it’ll be the system/module that doesn’t have a U code, that will be the system at fault, causing the others to set that code. In your case quite possibly the air bag system is not communicating with the other modules?
