ranger oil pressure

my 2000 ford ranger 4.0 with 16000 mi runs fine but after warming up the oil prussure needle will flicker rapidly and drop to 0 at idle but will soon return to normal

Is the engine making any noise?
It could be just a gauge problem but I would stop driving it until you find out for sure. I would replace the sending unit. It's cheap and you can eliminate that.
