Well the steering trick was the 1st thing I was going to suggest, that happens when the wheels are turning all the way to one direction or another and then the key removed. It basically puts a lot of tension on the steering wheel making the key hard to turn. But If you've already tried that with no success then you may have a worn key or cylinder....

Sometimes "playing" with the key (jiggling it) while trying to turn it will get it to go.....I had one chevy where you had to put the key all the way in like normal & then pull it back out just a hair to get it to turn....

If any of this works then the key/cyl really needs to be replaced, it would be a sign of being worn out & will only get worse with time

The lock cylinder is the piece that you put the key into....

From what you've posted, either the wheels are turned all the way to one direction, putting the cylinder into a bind (you just turn the steering wheel to the opposite direction & turn the key) or the key or cylinder are worn out. If you have another key, try that. You can try the tricks a mentioned, maybe a shot of PB or WD40 might help a bit.

If none of that works, then the cylinder would need to be replaced.

That's pretty much it with the tricks in the parking lot.....Just jiggle the key, wiggle the steering wheel.

Are the wheels in the straight ahead position or are they turned to one direction?

One other not so common thing....If someone tried to take the car and was messing with the cylinder, then there is really no shot at getting it to work with the key anymore & would need to be replaced....
