identifying auto part

My wife found this part laying in our driveway.We have a 2005 Ford F-150 and a 1998 Mercury sable.My guest this belong to the 1998 sable?Also my guess is it might have something to do with the steering linkage,but I'm not sure?I need some help identifying this part,also is it safe to drive 5 miles to a repair shop? Thanks for any help.

That is what's left of your link pin bushing off your truck. Not a huge safety issue but should be addressed as soon as possible because it can affect the handling...
Just go out & check out your sway bar, look at where both ends mount....It should be obvious.........

Thanks for your help and I found the front sway bar on my F-150,and the
sable and both have the sway bar attached.Is there a sway bar for the
rear also,because I could not find one if there is.Thanks

Dan post a good diagram of the rear of your Sable, I forgot they used that style in the rear..... If the rear isn't missning one of those then one of your friends cars is.........

the sway bar will still be firmly attached on both vehicles, you need to look at where the sway bar ends in the vicinity of the shocks/struts. there should be swaybar endlinks connecting the sway bar to the suspension.
rear sway bars usually have more of a dog bone style with eyelets.

Thanks DanD and all that helped. It was the sable rear stabilizer bar,not only was the broken part that I found in my driveway missing but the other end of the bar was also missing a bushing and nut.
