I have 4 practically new 215 R75 15 All Weather/ Snow/ Off Road type tires stored in my Shed, since my Dodge Raired Craped out last year. Will they fit on my 2001 Sabaru Legacy L Wagon??? It currently has 205 R65 15 on it, but looks to have enough clearence to fit the bigger tire. These things were expensive and I'd prefet not to just store them forever, but if not, what tires will fit the Sabaru???

No, not even close. Those tires are much narrower and taller than what you need. You can't mess with tire sizing these days.

??? They appear to be about one inch - 1.5 inch taller, but are about 2 inches wider, not narrower??? I figured that since the Sabaru will handle a full set of chains, there ought to be enough room to house the larger tire??? As far as I know, the Legacy "L" Wagon shares the same frame as the Outback, which I see all over the place with 16 and 17 inch rims and tires anywhere between R50 - R65 .... Sooooo, hopefully, your wrong, since I'm so Fuc+ing Thick Headed that I'm going to have to pull a tire now and try... :-) It would be nice, especially since the Sabaru is a Great Little Car, for My Snowy NH Winters, except it practically sits on the ground!!! Another inch in height, sure wouldn't hurt!!!

The 215/75 are not wider than the 205/65. They are narrower and taller. The tires cannot be used.

The 215/75 is about 2 inches taller.
You sure the 215/75 isn't wider? 215mm versus 205mm?

Frustrated, I just took one of the 205 R65 tires off the car and stood it next to the 215 R75. If seeing is believing, the 215 R75 appears to be about 1.5 inches taller and about one inch wider then the tires on the car, which are marked as 205 R65. Both are on rims and inflated, unfortunately, the Old Raider Rims are 6 hole, so I can't try them. until I have the rims changed over, but I'm not blind???

No, because the aspect ratio has dropped to 65% which increased the footprint. Obviously dropping one size in section width will reduce the amount but the change in aspect ratio is still going to leave it with a wider footprint and an extreme loss in height which is the bigger problem.

Frustrated, I just took one of the tires off the car and sat it next to the the tires in my shed. The tire from the car reads as 205 R65. The Shed Tires read 215 R75. If seeing is believing, both are on rims and inflated. The 215 R75 appears to stand about 1.5 inches taller, as in under two inches, and seems to be about one inch wider??? Unfortunately, the old Raider Rims are 6 hole, so I'll have to have the tires switched over, to know for sure.... But regardless, they sure look like they will fit???

I don't know??? As I said, side to side, back to back, there isn't much difference between the two??? Surely not enough to tax a transmission, maybe change the speedo reading by a couple of MPH, but I'm thinking that's about it... The 205 R65 tires with chains on them, are bigger all the way around then the bare 215 R75, at least the ones I have??? Maybe they are undersized, but they did take standard chains last year??? What can I say??? I'm looking at the God Dam Things as I'm pecking at the keyboard here... Hopefully both of you will be able to read this. I don't want to type it twice again... But next Wednesday I'll have time to bother my local station to switch over at least one tire... I'll let you know...
