My 98 s-10 4wd pick up needed a new intake manifold gasket. When discovering the leak it was all leaking externally above the left valve cover. I bought a set of Felpro gaskets for it and went to work. After installation of the new gaskets I dropped my oil before starting the vehicle. There were NO signs of water in the oil it was black as could be. I then put knew oil in and fired it up. I let her run for about 3 mins or so and then shut it off and checked the oil which then looked like Chocolate milk. Upon further research I found out that I found that I should have used the Felpro gaskets with the Steel cage. But I had only used the ones with the rubber impregnanted plastic. So I thought I would just start over and use them Well no one in town carried just the intake gaskets themselves and I didnt need any other so I went with a Victor-Rentz one which also had a steel cage. Long story short while taking the intake off again I dropped one of my stainless steel fuel like nuts into the air intake and somehow it made it all the way to my piston. So I now had to remove the head and trust me I tried everything I could think of to get that nut out without doing that. Anyway with a new head gasket and everything put back together with the new intake gasket I am still having the same F***ing problem. Anybody able to shed some light on what that problem might be?

Sounds like you should stop cutting corners and let a professional do the repair. It would have been a lot cheaper in the long run. Two times taking it apart and two times the problem was apparently overlooked. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
