Wondering if anyone can advise on whats wrong? Sign In

Hi, I was wondering if anyone would possibly have any ideas on what may be wrong with my car.

I drive a Nissan Almera Tino 1.8 and it has started making a whining noise (under the bonnet), it makes the noise badly when driving in 2nd and 3rd gear (not managed to try it in higher gears yet) but it doesnt make the noise when revving the car in neutral. Was just wondering if anyone has any ideas?

Thanks very much in advance

Sean

For now I think this is a transmission bearing and you probably should let a transmission specialty shop hear it in person,

just heard from the garage and they say it has failed on a track rod end but I dont think this would be causing the noise, as i say i aint great mechanically, do you think it could be this causing the problem?

I had to look up that term and came up with what I call a tie rod end. NO - that would not make the noise you described but that too will need tending to,

A track rod is a suspension part thst mounts diagonly from frame to rear axle and keeps it in track with car. It's not your noise.

I've had those things make a lot of noise on Jeeps.

Unless the track rod fell off on one side and was touching something that was rotating.

I've had many Jeeps that they knock like hell over even the smallest bump when the get real dry. Sometimes they loosen on the frame mount and make even more noise.

True HT .They can make a hell of a racket on jeeps,i've changed a few.But this guys noise seems to be shift related. maybe a shift fork or busted syncro.

Transmission bearing or grounded out exhaust? Possibly aggravated by a broken mount.
