I believe it's called a breather tube.

Thank you. My assumption is it broke when one of the engine mounts busted a few weeks ago.

Would this cause a rough idle and intermittent illumination of the check engine light?

Yes. It has opened up a passage for air to be sucked in after the mass air flow sensor. You are probably getting a p0171 and P0174 codes indicating a system lean banks 1 and two because of it. The mass air sensor reads the amount of incoming air going into your engine, which is one of the things the ECM uses to decide ho much gas it should be getting. When the extra air gets in that the mass air sensor didn't see the ECM doesn't give it enough fuel. The oxygen sensors in the exhaust see that there is too much oxygen and tell the ECM to add more fuel. The ECM sees that the sensors aren't all giving it the info it thinks should be there and it sets a code. Also note that this extra air you are sucking in isn't going through a filter. If any dirt gets near it the motor will suck it in. The PCV line isn't an expensive part and is simple to install. I would get one right away.
