Truck won't go forward unless reversed first Sign In

99 Chevy s10

Got divorced a few months ago. Ex husband got the jeep, I got the truck. Trucks been sitting for about 2 years. Picked it up and brakes went completely out about 20 mins later. Had the busted brake lines replaces. Guy told me I needed new pads, rotors, everything. Told him I'd get it done on pay day. Started to leave the repair place and the truck wouldn't go forward . The guy said cause it needed new brakes and for me to back it up and try it again. That worked. Got new brakes and the problem stopped. Now it did the same thing today. Any idea why it's doing it again?

This should be a disc front/rear drum set up. Enough rust to rust out lines and sitting your drum brakes probably so rusty inside shoes don't retract properly and backing up is probably with one brake touch freeing them up. NOT GOOD of course.

Total brake job sounds indicated include the wheel cylinders and may need rear backing plates too rusted to reuse.
Hey -Do yourself a favor if brakes lines rusted out check out fuel lines, transmission and or cooling lines as well for power steering (maybe) engine oil. Check and absolutely grease all front end joints check for wear before too.

One more - fuel tank neck and take a look at the gas tank. All of that common by the time brake lines rust out,
