I'm looking for some help on how to have my cars fixed. The two cars are a toyota corolla 2001 and a hondy city 2004, both automatic transmission.
Yesterday, there we experienced great flooding and the cars were fully submerged in water. Both were placed in park and I haven't tried starting them because I remember someone telling me before that it will further damage the car.
So my problem now is how to tow the cars to the shop and what to expect.
I think both are front wheel drives. Here are some questions i have.
1. is it possible to shift gear to neutral w/o starting, which is needed when towing (i'm not sure)
2. how should it be towed? can it be towed the traditional way or do you need to use a flatbed?
3. what parts can i expect to be damaged or problematic? (the electronics, engine, etc)
hope someone can help. feel quite bad about it.

Was it salt water or fresh water?
How high did the water level reach?

fresh water. the water reached the roof. so basically the whole car submerged.

When that happens to an insured vehicle, it's considered a total as soon as it reached the seats. You have a mountain of problems to show up now. All the computers have been submerged and are likely destroyed and there are many of them.
Both of these cars are just electrical nightmares now. You can try drying it out and changing all of the fluids, changing all the upholstery and carpets but you need to get rid of it just as fast as you can if you do get it to run.

you are correct. i will be doing that.
right now i need to get it fixed and running. How can i get it to the shop best with the circumstances i'm facing.

Just tow them with the front end lifted. They can stay in Park in that situation.
