Think my Head Gasket is going? Sign In

Hi guys i think my head gasket is going? i will provide as much information as possible.

Vauxhall Corsa SXI + 16V 1229 CC 55 Plate

My head gasket went last year after warning light came on now and again so i took it to the garage and got it fixed.

I now think its going again i do alot of short journeys like 5-10 trips a day about 1-2 miles for the last 9 months. but my coolant container has a brown substance around the inside of the cap and around the inside of the coolant container covering about 1/4 going into the engine dont the hole basically but it isn't floating in the coolant so i think its a paste of some sort.

There is no creamy color texture on the oil cap although there was a tiny ammount about a month and a half ago the engine light hasn't come on either.

The only reason i think its going as i was on the Autobahn in germany and although its only a 1.2Ltr i was hitting 90Mph it was hitting 6000 RPM i dont think this is normal because last year i was hitting 115MPH at 6000RPM i was at 75MPH and the needle for the speedometer tok around 1 full minute to hit 80 i feel as though my car has lost power its taking a while to accelerate in 3rd 4th and 5th gears last year when my head gasket was going i was struggling to hit 60 i'm wondering if this is the case?

Thanks for your time.

appreciated

A head gasket can go twice but seriously check the head itseself also for defects.

Stay off the "Autobahn" with a 1.2 liter engine friend! Smile. Just the tail winds of other cars could hurt you!

That looks like oil in the coolant but actually that is not a common indication of a head gasket problem. The head gasket would have to be broken between and oil galley and a coolant galley and that is ery unusual. It could be a cracked head but more common is a leaking oil cooler if it has one.
