Taking off a modular on a 84 mustang V6

I have a 1984 Ford Mustang V6 35,000 miles. i need to take the modular that is attached to the distributor. my problem is that i think the nuts are stripped and the special socket wont turn the nuts. is there any other way for me to take it off? PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I assume that you are removing the module because it is defective . If thats the case you wont be worried about damage to it. Mark the position of the dist housing in relation to the eng block , a punch mark on the flange and a matching one on the block works fine . Now mark the position of the rotor to the dist housing , a bright colored crayon works well. Now remove the dist from eng . Be carefull not to drop the oil pump drive rod. . Now you can place dist on workbench and carefully nibble , grind and gently chisel away the plastic from around the screws . Remove them with a small pair a needle nosed vise grips . Thats what works for me . If screws are beyond hope get a new pair from parts house or junk yard.
