Strange sporadic noise on 2002 Chevy Venture Sign In

2002 Chevy Venture, 3.4l, 92,000 miles, FWD, automatic transmission

Hi, I was hoping someone could give a little guidance on what to check. My van made almost the same sound as when you veer off the side of the road and you hit those bumps on the side of the highway (a low vibrating sound). It lasts for about 5 to 10 seconds, then goes away. This has happened 3 times so far. 1st time was after a long trip I was pulling into a driveway only going a couple of MPH. Second time a month later when I was going onto a highway doing maybe 30-35 MPH. and today on the highway driving straight at about 70 MPH. Any help is much appreciated

Is A/C working normal?

I've had no ABS or Check engine lights. As far as I know the A/c is working but now that I think about it it dosen't get very cold if it's above 95 degrees outside, but works great outherwise, might need a recharge. Could that cause it? The compressor does kick on and off. Thanks for the quick replys.

I was suspecting the high pressure "pop off" valve releasing refrigerant because maybe the fan wasn't working. Just something to look at.

Re: Strange sporadic noise on 2002 Chevy Venture Sign In

I checked the A/C and the fan does come on and I don't see any obvious leaks (I have put in yellow dye last spring), but you may be on to something because it happened 3 times again today and the A/C was on every time it happened. The 2nd time I turned off the A/C and it seemed to stop the noise, but the 3rd time happened when I was accelerating so I let off the gas and it went away. The rest of the trip I had the A/c off and it didn't happen again. So I think it is either related to the A/C or maybe something to do with the A/C putting a load on the engine. Any Ideas?

Have the A/C pressures checked and find out if it's running too much pressure on the high side.
