Steering wheel radio contorls Sign In

Hello, I just bought a 2003 Chevrolet Impala LS. My question is, is it possible or how do I replace the radio switches in the steering wheel. The volume and Seek are bad and need replacing. I have found replacement switches but do not know how to get them out of the steering wheel. Does anyone know how? Thanks Chris

The air bag module and steering wheel need to be removed; after that it’s a simple job of changing the switch(s). That being said I’m going to suggest is that if you’re going to attempt this on your own, is to get a service manual and read up on and understand the proper way of disabling the air bag system for zone 3.
If you go at it blindly there is a chance of damaging the system making it inoperable or worse you’ll light off the bag that could cause you some injury. An air bag comes out of its hole with about a 500-pound punch and you won’t see it coming.

If it costs a couple bucks to stay safe I'm all for it. An air bag can either save your life or kill you or hurt you. Scary stuff to mess with. T
