Solenoid replacement: do I need to shop around? Sign In

Hello all, check engine light on a '04 Honda Civic, took it in and was informed that a solenoid needs replacing, for a total of about $130.

Main symptoms of the car are:

-Check engine light
-SEEMS like less fuel efficiency lately
-I get a strange whirring sound at about 45 mph that goes away when I go below 45 mph or press the gas above it

Is it worth shopping around for alternate opinions/prices or does that sound about right to the people here?

Which solenoid was suggested? Not sure it matters just yet as you have a check engine light so post the code(s) it reads not a conclusion just yet.

When you can confirm which one then think about shopping around for price or perhaps something too important to cheap out on?
