I own a 2005 Nissan Maxima SE. A few months ago the ABS, Brake, Traction Control and Slip Light all would come on when the car was started. After some research I replaced the rear ABS sensors and that stopped the lights from coming on. However, what is happening since then is when I start driving the slip light starts flashing and the car goes into limp mode and does not accelerate or do anything. If I turn off traction control, the care drives fine with no issues. I posted the issue on a couple of Maxima forums but nobody had any ideas or suggestions. I don't want to keep guessing and putting in new and possibly unnecessary parts. Any ideas or suggestions.

Thanks for your help!!

I would take another look at that sensor. It may not be getting an accurate reading causing the traction control to apply brakes during acceleration.

Re: Slip Light Flashing Sign In

I replaced the two rear sensors already with new ones. There was a Nissan service bulletin about the right rear but after replacing that one I had the same lights come on. The lights went off at start up after replacing the left rear also. I never touched the front wheel sensors. I was thinking of taking the front sensors out and trying to clean them first and maybe blowing some compressed air into the sensor holes to clean it out. Can I spray brake cleaner in the opening or on the sensor to clean or would that be bad. Also, the brake does not get applied when the slip light starts flashing. The car is just unresponsive and cannot accelerate or anything. I believe that is called limp or safety mode for Nissan.

No, there is no limp mode. You need a professional scan tool with ABS software to look at the data to find the problem.
