Shifter on Column

8 month ago I had the brake solenoid go out. I disconnected it, as I always use the emergency parking brake anyhow.
Now it is getting hard to get it out of park, you have to fiddle with the shift handle several time before it comes out of park.
Any thoughts are welcome, Thank you.

Just what did you do to what kind of vehicle that now has a problem shifting out of park? Park in an automatic never was a replacement for using the parking brake also,

by solenoid you mean the brake interlock/switch on the pedal assembly??? why not just replace it and be done with it?

Problem is, getting shifter out of park, feels like it may be in the column to me.
Yes, but by disconnecting it, it eliminated that issue. I am the only one who drives the truck so solenoid not a problem.
If the park problem requires a trip to a dealer in the city, I'll then replace brake solenoid also.

Have you checked to see if your brake lights are working when this happens?

If in regard to the solenoid, yes brake lights have been working for 8 months, with solenoid disconnected, very first thing I checked back then. Don't want to be rear-ended.
Still wondering why I have to fiddle with getting it out of park, now?

While fiddling with the shifter the brake lights don't come on,
However as soon as it finally comes out of park into reverse the brake lights come on ( foot off brake entire time).
I made a mistake and thought, people were referencing the old problem.
My apologizes!
